SEVO Systems
SEVO Systems, a developer and distributor of fire suppression systems, has introduced the “One for One” halon retrofit fire suppression system, which utilizes 3M Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid as a replacement for halon and HFCs.
The new fluid has the highest life safety margin of any chemical clean agent, zero ozone depletion potential and five-day atmospheric lifetime and is a sustainable alternative to halon and HFCs in fire suppression systems.
The existing halon 1301 piping network can be salvaged, replacing only the cylinder with a SEVO 1230 cylinder containing Novec 1230 fluid pressurized to 500 psig, along with changing existing nozzles.
The system is approved by Factory Mutual, a Division of FM Global, and a major industrial insurer.

HOBO LEED Monitoring Kits
In an effort to improve building energy performance, Onset Computer Corp. has recently unveiled three new HOBO LEED Monitoring Kits, which can quickly measure conditions in existing buildings as well as help with the LEED accreditation process by continuously recording baseline data.
The HOBO LEED Monitoring Kits are available in three versions: Boiler Monitoring, Rooftop HVAC System Monitoring;,and Indoor Environmental Quality Monitoring.
Onset is also the manufacturer of the well-known HOBO data logger hardware, which is included in each kit.

Radiodetection
Radiodetection, a global manufacturer and supplier of underground pipe and cable locators, is now making a portable ground-penetrating radar system.
The new RD1000 displays an image map of underground features using radar technology. The advantage over a traditional electromagnetic locator is that the RD1000 can detect nonconductive materials, including plastic pipes. The DSP core displays the sub-surface map in real-time on a high-contrast LCD.
The new GPR system features Locate Mode, which uses a cursor to indicate the depth and location of a buried utility, and is activated by reversing the cart.
The RD1000 weighs less than 50 lb, is made of weatherproof materials, and can be assembled onsite in less than two minutes.
