The E-470 Public Highway Authority recently named J.
Matthew Alexander as its new director of roadway and
land management and Neil Thomson
as its new construction manager.
Alexander will be responsible for overseeing maintenance of
the highway, including preparations for winter weather driving.
As the new construction manager, Thomson will supervise construction
work and interface with the highway's contractor and consultants.
Previously, Alexander was the construction manager at the
E-470 Authority for seven-and-a-half years and Thomson was
a construction engineer for six years. Before that, both worked
for the Regional Transportation District.

Margaret A. (Peggy) Catlin,
deputy executive director of the Colorado Department of Transportation,
has been named winner of the 2002 Woman of the Year Award
by the Colorado Women in Transportation Seminar, a professional
organization.
Catlin has spent much of her 25-year engineering career in
transportation. She worked for 20 years for the engineering
firm HNTB Corp., serving as vice president of the central
division in Denver from 1994 to 2000. During that time, she
served on the executive team for the development of Invesco
Field at Mile High.
In her role as CDOT deputy director since 2000, she is responsible
for day-to-day management, operation and overall strategic
direction of the agency and its 3,100 employees. She is also
responsible for the department's intelligent transportation
systems program, information systems, public/private partnership
initiatives and asset management. She is currently serving
as interim director of the Colorado Tolling Enterprise.

Archie Lind, PE, has joined
URS Corp.'s Denver Tech Center office as vice president of
aviation. Lind has more than 35 years of experience in aviation
engineering applications.
His background includes extensive project management of airport
systems development, specifically in aircraft fueling, ground
power, passenger loading bridges, preconditioned air, deicing
systems, pneumatic tube systems, automated storage/retrieval
systems, cargo systems and baggage systems.
URS has also announced that it recently hired the following
individuals: Geremy Samuelson,
computer technician/operator; Brian
Starbuck, data validation chemist; Chad
Gillan, geo/civil staff engineer; and Brandon
Desh, engineering intern.

The Neenan Co. has announced that John
T. Mills, AIA, ACHA, and Robert
Campbell have joined the firm's health care division.
Mills joins the division as a principal architect and Campbell
is an associate vice president.
Mills will be responsible for plans and designs for hospital
facilities with a special focus on inpatient-related facilities.
He has more than 25 years of health care architecture experience,
is a member of the American Institute of Architects and a
founding member of the American College of Healthcare Architects.
Campbell will assist with business development for the health
care division. His strong client relation skills will complement
Neenan's commitment to an expanding national presence in the
health care industry.

Merrick & Co. recently promoted Barney
Fix, PE, and Bill Oliver,
PE, to vice president.
Fix joined Merrick in 1993 and currently manages the civil
infrastructure team. Under his leadership, the team has successfully
performed civil engineering projects throughout Colorado.
A notable long-term project that he managed is the US Home
Stetson Hills residential and mixed-use development in Colorado
Springs.
Oliver joined Merrick in 1993 and currently manages the firm's
advanced technology New Mexico operations. This includes more
than 65 multi-discipline staff members working out of two
offices in Los Alamos and Albuquerque. Under his leadership,
the team performs process, facilities and specialty equipment
projects for radioactive and hazardous materials operations
at Los Alamos, Sandia and other DOE weapons complex locations.

Carter & Burgess Inc. has announced its newest leadership
additions - two newly elected Denver-based associates that
are both in the transportation programs unit.
James Fluhr, PE, is a senior
project manager with more than 18 years of experience in airport
development. His responsibilities include overall project
management of engineering design and construction projects
as well as contract administration, project scheduling, cost
estimating and overall construction management. Fluhr has
extensive experience in all facets of airport planning, design
and construction projects for both air carrier and general
aviation airports.
Mark Shotkoski, PE, is a project
manager currently managing a 10-mile design-build toll road
in Broomfield. Shotkoski has a wide array of planning, design
and management experience primarily from several projects
consisting of light-rail transit systems, highway design/construction,
a people-mover tunnel and a technical assistance project for
natural disasters.
His technical experience spans from drainage, utility relocations,
light rail and roadway design to management efforts in construction
coordination, cost estimating, technical specification preparation,
project schedule and program controls.

Klipp Colussy Jenks DuBois Architects has announced the
promotion of two staff members to associate.
Chad Cox has been with the firm
since 1999 and has served as project architect/designer for
a number of projects within the commercial studio.
Paul Kastner joined the firm
in 2000. He has since worked on a variety of projects within
the firm's commercial and education studios.

Ware Malcomb has announced the promotion of Rick
Gunter to regional director of the Denver office. Gunter
has been with Ware Malcomb since 1997 and has more than 14
years of architectural experience. He is a licensed architect
in Colorado and California and is knowledgeable about diverse
product types, including industrial, distribution, commercial
office, R&D facilities, as well as a broad range of interior
tenant improvements.

Nuszer Kopatz Urban Design Associates has added Tiffany
Holcomb as a project planner.
Holcomb received her master's of landscape architecture degree
and a minor in architecture from North Carolina State University.
The firm has also announced that Rob
Snelling has returned to the firm as an associate landscape
architect. Snelling has a wide variety of experience and expertise
in all phases of the design process, including site master
planning and feasibility studies, design development and documentation
and construction management on a wide range of projects throughout
Australia.

Pinkard Construction has announced the promotion of Eric
Lindenmuth to project manager.
Lindenmuth has been in the construction industry for 12 years.
His responsibilities include managing construction activities,
both self-performed and subcontracted work, estimating projects
through the design stage, scheduling, material procurement
and subcontract letting, shop drawing review and cost control.

Cator, Ruma & Associates, a mechanical and electrical
engineering company, has announced two recent promotions.
Sean T. Convery, PE, who joined
the firm in 1995 as a mechanical engineer, was promoted to
an associate. Convery has been an integral team member on
higher education, laboratory and high-tech projects dealing
with district steam, condensate and chilled water utilities.
Wayne A. Trader, PE, who was
also promoted to associate, has been a mechanical engineer
with the firm since 1996. Trader works primarily with multifaceted
health care facilities and primary and secondary schools.
Trader is accredited for Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design by the U.S. Green Building Council and has been directing
Cator, Ruma & Associates' sustainable designs.

Washington Group International's division of highways and
bridges in Denver has announced the promotion of Alberto
Zapata to the position of manager of graphic design.
Zapata brings specific graphic design capabilities to Washington
Group in the area of information graphics, photo simulations,
proposal identities, public presentations and marketing materials.

Monroe & Newell Engineers Inc. has announced that Graham
Coddington, PE, has acquired his professional engineer's
registration. Coddington's current projects include Tallyn's
Reach Municipal Campus in Aurora, Martin Luther King, Jr.
library in Aurora, Kwik Lube and Carwash in Thornton and the
City Park South multi-family project in Denver.

MKK Consulting Engineers Inc. has announced that it has
hired Hal V. Ogle as a senior
electrical engineer and project manager. Ogle brings more
than 20 years of experience as a professional electrical engineer
to MKK.
Before joining MKK, Ogle was the owner and president of his
own consulting engineering firm in Phoenix. His experience
includes power, lighting and special systems engineering design
and construction oversight for a variety of projects throughout
the United States. He has a practical working knowledge of
the policies, standards and recommended practices governing
a myriad of projects within industrial, commercial, institutional,
educational and health care markets.

Loris and Associates, structural and civil engineers, has
announced the addition of three new staff members and the
promotions of several key personnel.
Steven Roche recently joined
the firm in the position of controller. Roche will be responsible
for the overall financial management of the organization.
He brings more than 20 years of financial management experience
in Colorado to his position.
Kim Cronin, EIT, joins Loris
as a structural engineer. Her background includes several
years designing steel structures and her responsibilities
will include structural engineering and construction observation.
Paul Mandeville Jr. joined the
firm as a bridge engineer. He comes to Loris after working
with HDR Engineering in Boston for the past two-and-a-half
years. Mandeville will assist with bridge design, structural
engineering, roadway design and construction observation.
Julian Lineham, PE, C.Eng. MICE
has been promoted to senior associate. Lineham leads Loris'
building studio which designs educational, institutional,
commercial, residential, historic renovation, recreational
and health care projects.
Christopher O'Hara, PE, has
been promoted to associate. He leads the special structures
studio, which is responsible for structural glass, facade
design, tension structures, art installations, moving structures
and floating structures in addition to assisting with building
design.
Curt Parker, PE, has been promoted
to associate. He leads Loris' civil engineering studio with
more than 26 years of experience in civil engineering, including
floodway design, hydrology and hydraulics engineering for
both building sites and roadway projects.

Norris Dullea Co., a planning and landscape architecture
firm, has announced the addition of Mark
Kieffer, AICP, to its staff as a senior associate and
Phillip E. Flores, FASLA, CLARB,
as the director of business development.
Kieffer brings 23 years of experience working in community
development throughout Colorado.
Before joining Norris Dullea, Kieffer worked for a Denver-based
architectural firm with projects throughout the country. Prior
to his extensive private sector experience, he also served
as planning director for two of the fastest growing communities
in Colorado. As a senior associate, Kieffer provides his expertise
in project management in both public and private sector work.
His responsibilities also include business development.
Flores has been a mainstay in landscape architecture in Colorado
for a number of years. He founded Phillip E. Flores Associates
Inc. a landscape architecture and planning firm, in the early
'70s. In addition to his business development responsibilities,
Flores will provide his expertise as a landscape architect,
planner, urban designer and cultural landscape preservation
specialist.

Lou Sigman, general manager
of Harmon Inc.'s Gump Glass, has been named board president
of the Colorado Glazing Contractors Association. The association
includes a growing membership of architectural glass contractors
and related suppliers in Colorado.
Sigman previously held volunteer leadership positions with
CGCA as program committee chairman and board trustee. Representing
one of the founding companies of CGCA, Sigman draws from more
than 20 years of experience in the industry. For the past
decade, he has served as general manager of Gump Glass.
Harmon's Gump Glass has also announced that it has hired Karen
Pump as an outside service sales representative for
the Denver area. Working closely with commercial property
managers and building owners, Pump focuses on repair, replacement
and renovation needs for buildings' glazed exteriors.

Washington Group International has announced that David
Morrisey, PE, and Brian Z. Purto,
PE, have achieved the title of professional engineer; and
that Matthew T. Kinsella has
been promoted to project manager.
With 10 years of experience, Morrisey has worked on such projects
as the Lowry Redevelopment, Stapleton Redevelopment and the
Fitzsimons redevelopment master plans. Morrisey has extensive
experience in design work for drainage and flood control projects,
sanitary sewer projects and water distribution systems.
Purto has been the structural engineer on 11 bridges on E-470
Segment IV and the Northwest Parkway, both design-build toll
ways.
Kinsella brings years of experience in roadway design, transportation
planning, traffic impact studies, roadway alignment and traffic
engineering. His most recent experience has been with the
Northwest Parkway final design. He was responsible for design
and construction assistance for Section A3 of the parkway.

Semple Brown Design PC, a leading Rocky Mountain region
architecture and design firm, has recruited Andrea
Huddleston, Sean O'Hara and Andrea
Nicholl to join its staff of design professionals.
Huddleston brings more than 10 years of architectural experience
to Semple Brown. Before joining the firm, Huddleston acted
as a project designer at Louviere, Stratton & Yokel LLC,
a laboratory planning and architectural design firm.
With a strong background in commercial projects, O'Hara will
also play a role in the renovation of the Quigg Auditorium
Theatre. O'Hara joined Semple Brown from Gerou & Associates,
where he worked on custom residential and commercial projects.
After acting as an architectural intern for the past two years,
Nicholl will be moving into her new position as a job captain.
Before joining Semple Brown, Nicholl worked for the College
of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado
at Denver, HooverDesmondArchitects and AIA Colorado.

Richard Millet, a 37-year
veteran of Woodward Clyde/URS Corp., was recently named practice/technology
leader for the firm's water resources group.
Millet will provide technical leadership and management support
to URS's water resources clients throughout the region. He
led the firm's design efforts in the recently completed Metropolitan
Water District's 800,000-acre-ft Diamond Valley Reservoir
Storage Project and currently is the chairman for the U.S.
Society of Dams Foundation Committee.
Jennifer Hanson was recently
promoted to public relations coordinator. Hanson will focus
on media relations, in-house communications and event planning.

Sprehe Interior Construction Inc. has announced the following
promotions and additions to its staff.
John Banks has been promoted
to executive vice president and chief operating officer. With
30 years of experience in the construction industry, Banks'
primary duties will be in field operations and safety, but
will also include client relations and business development.
He will have oversight of both the Colorado Springs and Denver
offices.
Colin Garretson joined Sprehe
in October 2002 as a project manager. He has 10 years of experience
in the drywall industry and will be working out of the Denver
office.
Brian Townsend joined Sprehe
as a project manager in its Denver office in January 2003.
He has 24 years of construction experience, seven of which
were architectural and the other 17 in commercial drywall.
Rebecca Taylor also joined Sprehe
in October 2002 as its new human resources manager.

CTL/Thompson Inc. - a consulting firm specializing in geotechnical,
materials and geo-environmental engineering and testing -
has appointed Richard Phillips
as principal engineer/manager of the Denver engineering division.
Phillips brings his expertise from within the company, having
previously served in various roles at CTL/Thompson in its
Colorado Springs and Pueblo branch offices.
In his role as principal engineer/manager of the Denver engineering
division, Phillips' 21 years of experience will lend to his
primary duties - project management from assignments to consultation
to tracking progress on job sites. In addition, he will provide
client support on project work and engineering reports.
