The Orchard at Westminster/UNM Children's
Hospital/St. Mary Corwin Topping Out
The Orchard at Westminster will
include 1 million sq ft of outdoor, fashion-oriented retail,
including big boxes, department stores and smaller, upscale
retailers, located on 215 acres on the northwest corner of
I-25 and 144th Avenue.
Site Plans Unveiled
for The Orchard at Westminster
Forest City West reached a final agreement with the city
of Westminster in December to create a Main Street-style shopping
venue called The Orchard at Westminster along the north I-25
corridor.
The project will include 1 million sq ft of outdoor, fashion-oriented
retail, including big boxes, department stores and smaller,
upscale retailers. Located on 215 acres on the northwest corner
of I-25 and 144th Avenue, south of the E-470 and the Northwest
Parkway beltway, the project will also include 500 housing
units and office space.
JC Penney, Foley's and a 12-screen AMC Theatres are among
the first tenants to be named.
Construction will begin in April, with the opening planned
for October 2006.
The approval of the intergovernmental agreement to build
an interchange at 144th Avenue and I-25, signed in November
between the cities of Thornton and Westminster, paved the
way for the final step in the development of The Orchard at
Westminster.
The schedule for the interchange will coordinate with construction
of the lifestyle center.

Dunn Breaks Ground on UNM Hospital Expansion
J.E. Dunn Construction Rocky Mountain Region, in a joint
venture with Jaynes Corp. of New Mexico, broke ground in late
fall on the University of New Mexico Children's Hospital and
Critical Care Pavilion project in Albuquerque.
The six-story, 500,000-sq-ft building will house a neonatal
intensive care unit; children's and adult emergency departments;
urgent care and trauma; adult critical care; women's birthing
center; postpartum services and a well-baby nursery. Support
services will include a pharmacy, gift shop, meditation room,
food court and respiratory therapy.
The design team of Design Collaborative Southwest Architects
Inc., architect; and Perkins and Will, consulting architect
has created a complex suitable for present and future medical
technology and major diagnostic and treatment services with
an emphasis on contemporary "healing" inpatient
environments.
Bleeker & Vigesaa Completes New Ted's
Brighton-based Bleeker & Vigesaa LLC has completed construction
of the Ted's Montana Grill Restaurant in Westminster.
The $1.2 Million, 150-seat restaurant is the fifth Ted's
Montana Grill located in the Denver area. Its construction
marks the first time the restaurant chain has used a local
contractor instead of the national firm that has built more
than 30 location throughout the country.
McStain Building New Homes at Belmar
McStain Neighborhoods is now offering homes in Belmar - a
103-acre, prime infill development at South Wadsworth Boulevard
and West Alameda Avenue - Lakewood's new downtown neighborhood.
McStain is building 132 row houses ranging from two- to five-bedrooms
and 1,400 to 2,200 sq ft.
About half of the homes will feature penthouses with roof
top decks. Prices will start from the high-$200s.
Jesus Orozco, who worked at both Lowry in Denver and Broadlands
in Broomfield before transferring to Belmar, is the sales
consultant.
St. Mary Corwin Project Tops Out
A topping-out ceremony for the new $46 million St. Mary Corwin
Hospital Tower Expansion in Pueblo took place in late fall.
Pueblo's H. W. Houston Construction Co. is the general contractor
for the project, designed by RTA Architects of Colorado Springs.
The hospital will feature 221,000 sq ft of new space, including
a new cancer center, emergency department, diagnostics area,
outpatient surgery suite, intensive care department, front
entry and patient beds.
The tower will also feature a helipad on the roof with direct
elevator access to the emergency room.
GTC Breaks Ground on Hajek Chevrolet
Golden Triangle Construction of Longmont has started construction
on the new Hajek Chevrolet auto dealership in Longmont.
Designed by Longmont's Moore & Bishton Architects, the
32,800-sq-ft building will have complete sales, parts and
service facilities on a 5.5-acre site with dramatic mountain
views. Primary exterior materials include concrete tilt-up
panels, stone cladding, high-performance glazing and metal
roofing. The project is expected to be finished in May.
Golden Triangle Construction was also awarded two more First
Bank projects in Firestone and at Rigden Farms in Fort Collins.
Designed by Davis Partnership, the new buildings are prototypical
masonry buildings in keeping with the series of bank projects
that GTC and Davis Partnership have completed for First Bank.
Colarelli Construction Completes Two BankWest
Projects
Colarelli Construction recently completed two projects for
BankWest in Colorado Springs and Denver.
The general contractor worked with burkettdesign on both
the 15,000-sq-ft Colorado Springs branch and the 7,000-sq-ft
Denver branch.
White Tapped for Saddle Rock Project
White Construction Group has been commissioned to construct
four buildings for the Saddle Rock South Marketplace includes
in Aurora.
Although contemporary, the buildings were designed by architect
Suzette Emerson of SEE Architecture in Denver to mirror existing
building standards within the Saddle Rock development.
The project includes interior work a clubhouse, which will
feature vaulted ceilings, a fireplace and standard finishes
such as paint and carpeting. Interior tenant finish work will
be completed on the retail businesses as leases are signed.
White will also build three retaining walls to accommodate
land that slopes away to a nearby creek.
The project will be connected to the Saddle Rock Recreation
Center - built by White in 2001 - through a series of sidewalks
and landscaping. Completion is expected in April.
Krische Completes Burlington Medical Center
Krische Construction completed the exterior remodel and tenant
finish of the Burlington Medical Center at the former location
of Longmont Lanes.
The 23,000-sq-ft center houses three new tenants, including
Delphi Management Services, Rocky Mountain Family Practice
and the Colorado Center for Digestive Disorders.
The project developer was Kingpin Redevelopment LLC of Longmont.
