Pinkard Announces New Projects

Pinkard Construction Co. has announced several new projects.

  • Pinkard has been awarded the design-build contract for Colorado State University's new 700-bed undergraduate student housing project. The four-story building is 113,000 sq ft and consists primarily of residential suites with common support spaces on the lower and basement levels, including laundry, vending, study and administrative offices. Aller Lingle is the architect. Located on the Fort Collins campus, the project is scheduled for a summer 2004 completion.
  • Pinkard has begun construction of the New Mountain View Elementary School in Pine Creek. The 52,952-sq-ft structure will replace the current Mountain View Elementary. The architect is LKA Partners Inc. of Colorado Springs and Academy School District 20 is the owner. The project is expected to complete in late 2003.
  • The Shoppes at Castle Pines project on Castle Pines Parkway just west of I-25 consists of 5,100-sq-ft retail core-and-shell space that will house both a Washington Mutual Bank and an orthodontist. The owner is Alex Groos of Buell & Co. and the architect is Wyatt and Associates.
  • Pinkard has begun construction of the new 911 Administration and Training Center for El Paso and Teller counties. The project includes sitework on the three-acre site; construction of the 12,500-sq-ft, two-story building for the offices, computer room, board room and training center classrooms. The architect is HB&A Architects of Colorado Springs and El Paso-Teller County Enhanced 911 Authority is the owner. The project is expected to be complete early in 2004.

Krische Announces New Projects

Krische Construction has been selected to build an 8,000-sq-ft church for the Eternal Savior Lutheran community and handle work on four elementary schools in Longmont for the St. Vrain School District.

The $1.1 million church will be located at 1241 Ceres Drive in Lafayette. It will consist of wood-frame construction with masonry veneer and interior wood beams and arches. Construction will be completed by the end of the year.

The school projects included are Hygiene Elementary, Longmont Estates Elementary, Northridge Elementary and Loma Linda Elementary School. Loma Linda is the only one of the four scheduled for an addition, but all four schools will have their heating and ventilation systems and mechanical enclosures upgraded.

Krische will begin work on the four schools immediately, with completion slated for before the 2003-04 school year begins in August.


Key to Build New Visitor Center in Georgetown

Key Construction was recently awarded a contract by Historic Georgetown Inc. to build a new visitor's center in Georgetown.

The project is the ground-up construction of a 4,000-sq-ft visitor center as well as demolition of the existing building. The groundbreaking was held April 26 and was well attended by the Georgetown community, Key Construction staff and the architect, Long Hoeft Architects. Completion is scheduled for October 2003.


Neenan Announces New Projects

The Telluride School District, The Neenan Co. and Grey Wolf Architecture have started construction on the expansion of the Telluride Middle School and High School. The expansion will include a 12-classroom and auditorium addition. Construction is expected to be completed in April 2004.

Neenan has also announced that it has been selected to assist Adams County School District 14 with design and construction services in preparation for the November 2003 ballot initiative.

As part of the agreement, Neenan and Grey Wolf Architecture will provide the initial services at no risk to the district if the ballot initiative does not pass. If voters approve the bond, The Neenan Co. will deliver design and construction services for agreed upon projects.


Saunders to Build Lazzara Center for Oral-Facial Health

The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center at Fitzsimons has awarded the contract for the Lazzara Center for Oral-Facial Health to Saunders Construction Inc.

The new $26 million facility at Fitzsimons will total 87,560 sq ft and will include comprehensive and specialized care clinics with dedicated space for orthodontics, emergency dental care, geriatrics and services for developmentally challenged patients. It will also house the University of Colorado School of Dentistry, the only dental school in the Rocky Mountain region.

Saunders is scheduled to break ground on the new facility in February 2004 with June 2005 as the anticipated completion date. Christopher Carvell & Associates is designing the Lazzara Center.


Ash & White Construction Announces New Projects

Ash & White Construction Co. has announced that it has been awarded the following projects:

  • Mechanical systems renovation at Kepner Middle School in Denver;
  • oMechanical systems renovation at Elbert, Hallet and Steck schools in Denver;
  • Site improvement at Iliff School of Theology in Denver;
  • Site upgrades and enhancement of Auraria Higher Education Center in Denver;
  • Construction of shower room remodel and new Family Center at South Suburban Parks and Recreation in Littleton; and
  • Site improvements and new drive-through facility at First National Bank in Castle Rock.

GE Johnson Announces New Projects

GE Johnson Construction's special projects division has been awarded a $2 million contract, by Colorado College in Colorado Springs. Designed by LKA Partners of Colorado Springs, the project includes interior renovations and life safety upgrades. Construction will begin in August 2003 and be complete by June 2004.

Also, GE Johnson has announced that it has been awarded a $37 million contract to build the new St. Julien Hotel and parking garage in Boulder. The project includes a 160,000-sq-ft four-star hotel and an underground 239,000-sq-ft parking garage. Designed by Urban Design Group, the project broke ground May 21. The parking garage will be complete by July 2004 and the hotel by the end of 2004.


ACC Building County Line Regional Park

American Civil Constructors Sport is nearly 80 percent complete with Phase I of the design-build of County Line Regional Park at University and County Line Road in Douglas County. Phase I includes two synthetic multi-purpose fields and one synthetic baseball field.

The site was formerly a landfill, capped by Waste Management in 1985. Because of the environmental constraints of the project, irrigation is not permitted. New synthetic turf, including recycled rubber tire in-fill, is being installed at the park.


Phipps/McCarthy to Build New Facility for Children's Hospital

The Children's Hospital of Denver has officially announced its selection of Gerald H. Phipps Inc. and McCarthy Building Companies as joint-venture construction management partners for the construction of a new children's hospital on the organization's Fitzsimons campus in Aurora.

The $300 million hospital project will encompass more than 1.2 million sq ft. The completed hospital will include 250 inpatient beds, diagnostic and surgery facilities, outpatient clinics, medical staff and administrative offices and support service areas.

Construction on the hospital is scheduled to begin in late 2003 with a completion date planned for summer 2007. The architects on the project are FKP Architects Inc., Zimmer Gunsel and Frasca Partnership and H&L Architecture. Baird, Rao and Athanas will serve as consulting engineers with MKK Consulting Engineers.
